"Civil War Medicine: Compassion During Conflict"
Date: October 3, 2013, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Venue: Smoky Hill Museum - 211 West Iron Ave., Salina, Ks.
Sponsor: Smoky Hill Museum

The Event:      During the Civil War, field hospitals and surgeons did their best to stop disease and mend broken and bullet-ridden bodies. However, their best efforts could only go so far, with the poor, unsanitary conditions and the archaic state of medicine. Join Dr. Michael Monaco as he discusses the medical practices of the Civil War and shares a display of medical equipment. Monaco is clinical professor at UMKC School of Medicine and an NFL team physician for the Kansas City Chiefs.
