Poetry Aloud, Suntreader, and the Irish Fairies will honor one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, James Joyce, on Bloomsday, June 16th 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Anna Murdoc’s Café, 209 E. William. This gives Wichita the opportunity to join Dublin, Philadelphia, Syracuse, Szombathely, and other cities around the world to celebrate the one day (June 16, 1904) in which Joyce’s novel Ulysses takes place. Leopold Bloom is the main character and the book follows his progress around Dublin. Dr. Marguerite Regan, Newman University, will be the featured speaker on James Joyce at 7:00. Also scheduled: readings from Ulysses, a best costume from 1904 contest, limerick contest, and Irish music later in the evening. There is no cover.
